Adventures in Mismanagement

The day was Tuesday May 20, in the year 1999. Ugh  was sitting quietly at his desk awaiting the news. The CEO for Teknologeez Plus (TP),  Pops Johnson, had been in that conference room for over three hours with the people from Crazy Electronics. What could be taking so long? Ugh knew that it would take some time, but still...TP needed that contract! Without it, he knew his career was over, his wife would take his club and beat him with it, his cave would be foreclosed upon, and his Wooly Mammoth repossessed. Three hours and five minutes. Tick, toc, tick, toc....

As the minutes ticked by, Ugh found himself worrying whether TP could do the work even if they won the contract.What was troubling Ugh was the fact that TP did not perform a Feasibility Study. No one had thought hard about what needed to be done and whether TP had the resources - people, money, facilities - to do it. Ugh sighed. "If we get the contract," he thought, " we'll manage to find some way to do it. At least I hope so."

Just then, he heard cheers coming down the hall. He knew then, succeed or not, that TP would have their chance.
