A few days later...

The conference room was set up for TP's planning meeting. Ugh was going to outline the project plan that would guide TP from design all the way through testing. Their plan called for a two-tier Organizational Structure that would be used for all communications between teams. This structure is outlined below.

Graphic of Organizational Structure

In Ugh's structure, there was no direct communication between teams. All interactions would have to go through the management team, headed of course by Ugh. This gave Ugh the control he liked to have, made him powerful. The problem was, it put in an unnecessary bottleneck that would slow things down every time something came up that required the teams to coordinate with each other ( which was often).

Design was to begin that week. Marty McFly, Pedro Villa, and Mr. Data were assigned to the Design Team. The Manufacturing Team was assigned the task of developing the production line. This was just where Big Al liked to be--knee deep in grease. And the Testing Team was going to do nothing because they had nothing to test. This suited Gramma just fine - she could catch up on her needlepoint. Of course Stewart was happy as a pig in slop, since he could spend all of his time in the arcade.

But time and money was being wasted and TP would pay for it later. You see, Gramma and Stewart are poorly utilized at the beginning, but, as you will see, become overloaded with work toward the end. Had Pops and Ugh considered employing some Project Management methods, they may have been able to avoid this.
